Turn the clock back to 1961 and beyond. Roam those old dirt roads once more and visit friendly neighbours you knew so well. From its beginnings before 1930 to its dismantlement in 1961, making way for the Squaw Rapids Hydro-electric Dam, to the day in 1962 when the river rose and water erased footprints forever, there's a lot to remember and to comment on.

Mossy Vale School Teacher, 1958
Teacher (1957-58), Illa McCann, with student, Bruce Adamson.
I was 7 when your mother-in-law came to teach at Mossy Vale but I clearly remember her enthusiasm for teaching and her youthful energy. Considering just how young Illa was at the time, and how far from town we were--not to mention how small and basic the school was, she is no doubt made of pretty good "stuff" to have made the decision to "stick it out" a full year, and give us kids such a fine and progressive educational experience!
This is a wonderful photo of my mother-in-law Illa.
