Among the first homesteaders to the Mossy Vale district, were Frank and Cassandra Morris in 1930. Each had immigrated from Romania, met in Regina and married, then farmed at Readlyn, SK until the onset of the Great Depression. Hopes of productive, cheap farm land brought them and their nine children north. This jovial pose in their garden—probably one of their first following the arduous task of clearing bush and breaking land—was no doubt cause for celebration.
